BIM 2013: On A Runner’s High

Days after the first ever international marathon event in Bohol, the finishers are still on a runner’s high.

That “state of euphoria and pure bliss either during or after a run”, you can read them still in the many exclamatory Facebook posts, tweets, blogs of the runners of the Bohol International Marathon (BIM) 2013 on August 25, 2013 in Panglao Island.

And like the overall upgrade of the former Bohol Marathon, the chip time of the top finishers considerably improved.

Last year’s guest Kenyan runners, now official competitors, dominated all of the full marathon and half marathon categories.  The BIM 2013 42K Male Category has an all-Kenyan Top 3 in James Talam, Jackson Chirchir, John Kipkurui Chebii.  Patrober Kemboi topped the 42K Female Category, Josphat Kiptanui Too in the 21K Male Category, and Joan Aiyabei in the 21K Female Category.

But runner Emmanuel Comendador carries the Bohol banner with pride, placing 2nd in the 21K Male Category.

In the shorter distance category 10K, (1) Jiven Pojas, (2) James Palma, and (3) Paul Jumamil topped the male category, while top female runners include (1) Amale Jopson, (2) Angel Arnibal and (3) Miho Ishiguro.
Apart from the top finishers, Aklanon Mark Joseph "Aga" Casidsid also stood out, clocking in at 06:10:39 for the 42K run, despite being visually impaired.

BIM 2013 welcomed and led to the finish nearly 1,000 runners from Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Mindanao, Metro Manila, Luzon, and international runners from Kenya, Hong Kong, China, Finlad, Italy, Canada, and the USA.
